Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
